In 2002 Mainsail began to acquire Marriott ExecuStay franchises in the Southeast. The most recent acquisition of the East Coast territory of Florida now gives Mainsail the entire Florida market, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and areas in Alabama. Now operating under the Oakwood ExecuStay brand, Mainsail procures, furnishes and manages luxury apartments under leases to corporate, government and leisure clients that require temporary housing.
Mainsail most recently purchased and completely renovated a 328-unit apartment complex in the highly desirable South Tampa area. This property is branded as Mainsail South Residences and services the ExecuStay brand. In addition to corporate and contract housing, Mainsail is focusing on high end luxury opportunities.
Recent Acquisitions and Development
In June of 2009, Mainsail purchased a luxury beachfront condominium, a 50-slip marina and the surrounding acreage on Anna Maria Island just south of St Petersburg, FL. Presently, we operate the luxury condominium as the Mainsail Beach Inn, which is consistently recognized by TripAdvisor® with its Certificate of Excellence year after year.
In February 2010, Mainsail opened a $110 million boutique resort in the British Virgin Islands. The Scrub Island Resort, Spa and Marina on a serene, private island, offers 52 guest rooms and suites, along with six extraordinary 2, 3 and 4-bedroom villas with West Indian décor, a world-class yachting marina, restaurants, secluded beaches and spectacular reefs within swimming distance.
In 2011, Scrub Island Resort, Spa and Marina joined the exclusive Marriott Autograph Collection®. The resort became the first Autograph Collection® hotel in the Caribbean and Marriott International’s first property in the British Virgin Islands.
The Autograph Collection® is a group of exceptional independent hotels, each hand-selected for their originality, character and uncommon details. To date, the Autograph Collection portfolio includes more than 20 properties in the United States and Europe, and this number is expected to double by the end of 2012.
In 2014, Mainsail opened the Epicurean Hotel, a luxury hotel in historic South Tampa, Florida. Partly funded using the EB5 Visa Program, the hotel offers a unique experience as a culinary center and includes 137 guest rooms, function space, a demonstration kitchen, bakery, wine shop, restaurant, rooftop lounge and spa.
